You can only buy one car/kart at a time and the process for buying a single one takes something like 20-30 seconds, SO... Starting from zero, that'll take you AT THE VERY LEAST 5 and a half hours in total.

Game design has changed and that at least SHOULD change the frequency of save points. They SHOULD be placed so, that each predetermined situation should end and begin with a save point. Be it a firefight, platforming sequence or a puzzle.

I don't think anyone can beat the Halos anytime soon. It's not just the overall quality of the music, but the fact that it's unique as well, which is largely an attribute of the games' setting.
So... What you'll need is BOTH a game in a fresh and immersive setting AND a gifted composer!
Otherwise the best you can get is something like MW2 by Hans Zimmer: Good, but forgettable.
